Date

Location
WIUT, Tashkent

Together with our partners, we’re bringing together higher education leaders and institutions from the UK and Uzbekistan to explore the theme of universities and university collaborations as engines for positive change in the second round of our major higher education conference.

The forum is a joint initiative between the British Council in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the University of Westminster and Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT).

Presentations and discussions will address core priorities for higher education in Uzbekistan and the UK, and identify ways in which these will be realised, including through transnational education (TNE) collaborations. The impact of higher education policy, practice and partnerships will be a focus throughout.

Objectives

The objectives of the forum are to:

  • address how universities can and do respond to the requirements of global and local markets and contexts and effect positive change
  • respond to national higher education reform and internationalisation agendas by addressing how universities ensure excellence in governance and quality assurance, and discuss concrete steps forward
  • outline concrete steps towards inclusive higher education through a presentation of the Inclusive University stakeholder mapping exercise and the new Inclusive University Good Practice Guide
  • share good practice in development, innovation and impact in the areas of research, knowledge exchange and technology transfer
  • discuss key trends and developments in TNE, launch the British Council TNE strategy and explore how Uzbekistan-UK TNE collaborations and international learning can support and impact positively upon wider higher education developments in Uzbekistan
  • provide a platform for partnership development discussions to be taken forward.

Who will attend this event?

The event is aimed at Uzbek government officials, invited delegates from UK and Uzbekistan universities, private sector, representatives of international agencies and think tanks.

Participants will share ideas, knowledge and expertise, and discuss future partnership and education policy.
