To contribute to the development of the Concept of a National Students’ Research and Enlightenment Centre a working group under the Ministry of higher and secondary specialised education of Uzbekistan worked with a UK consultant Christopher Lane invited by the British Council to explore best international and national practice of setting up Students’ Learning Centres from June 19 to 23 2017.

The programme included consultations and focus groups with all stakeholders including architects and construction companies, university rectors, pro-rectors in charge of curriculum, research and enlightenment, heads of departments, sociologists and psychologists, ICT specialists, chief librarians and, of course, students; as part of the programme a video conference with university management teams in 6 regions of Uzbekistan was organised.

As a result of intensive week a report summarising findings and recommendations were produced to inform next steps of an exciting initiative to create new development opportunities for young generation in Uzbekistan.
