The British Council and Avloni National Research Institute invite English language teachers from state schools to enhance their professional development through the British Council Online Teacher Community.
The British Council Online Teacher Community (OTC) offers a new and innovative approach to support your continuous professional development. When you sign up for a programme with the OTC, you will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful professional development over an extended period, supported by online communities of practice.
You will be encouraged to explore new ideas, techniques and strategies and – with the support of other teachers – identify what might work best in your classroom with your learners. You can create an action plan and later reflect on how it went, learning from each other’s experiences.
Interaction on the OTC platform occurs through webinars, discussion forums (where you can read and contribute ideas at a time suitable for you) and live Zoom sessions. You will need to commit to approximately three hours of study per week.
The Online Teacher Community in Uzbekistan offers a Pathways to Excellence programme that focuses on enhancing your teaching techniques, classroom practice, assessment and English teaching methods. The programme spans ten weeks.
The Pathways to Excellence programme covers five key topics relevant to teaching and learning English in Uzbekistan. For each of these five modules, you will study a British Council self-access Teaching for Success module, attend live webinars provided by international experts (which will localise and further develop the topic) and – with the support of your local online community – participate in discussion forums related to the topic, as well as in live Zoom sessions to share and discuss ideas and their application in your teaching context. This approach ensures that you have the time and support to apply new ideas to your teaching and to reflect together on their effectiveness, sharing challenges and solutions.
Additionally, you will have an excellent opportunity to take an additional Assessment Literacy module, which includes seven webinars run by UK assessment experts.
All interactions will be conducted in English and we require a minimum B1 level to make the most of this approach.
To apply for the programme, please complete the online form by Monday 25 September 2023.
